The 5-in-1 ration was a United States military ration issued from 1942 to the end of World War II. As its name implies, the 5-in-1 provided the needs of five soldiers in a single ration package. Procurement ended with the war, though remaining stocks were issued to troops after the war, as well as distributed as surplus in civilian feeding programs overseas. The 5-in-1 specification remained in effect after the war, and was again used in 1948 for a new field ration.

The 5-in-1 was developed in 1942 by the Subsistence Research Laboratory (SRL) of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps to fulfill a need for a pre-packaged field ration for use by small motorized combat groups.[1] The 5-in-1 allowed small groups of soldiers or large groups divided into multiple units to cook meals without the need of complex kitchen utensils or cooking skill. Another objective was to furnish sufficient food to take care of five men for one day. The U.S. Quartermaster Corps' Subsistence Branch originally planned for the rations to be used by troops without immediate kitchen facilities, such as trains without kitchen cars, motorized infantry, armored vehicle crews, or gun crews.[2]

Unlike the Mountain ration or Jungle ration, the 5-in-1 was a ration developed solely by the SRL. The 5-in-1's components were packed as a group, with noncanned components placed in a separate carton overpacked in a larger carton with the canned products. Menus were enclosed in the carton as a guide in the selection of meals.

By mid-1943, the ration was the most successful field ration in use in North Africa. In that same year, the 10-in-1 ration was developed to replace it, as it offered a wider menu and greater flexibility in small unit issue. Extensive procurement of the 5-in-1 ended the same year. However, use of 5-in-1 stocks continued throughout the war, and the ration was still in distribution when hostilities ended.[2]

Though procurement of the 5-in-1 had ended with the war, the specification remained in effect and later became the basis for a postwar revision in 1948, under which the 5-in-1 nomenclature was reestablished.[2]

View all your current weather data at a glance on a stunning color LCD display that can sit comfortably on a shelf or be wall-mounted at your convenience. The weather display monitors current weather and environmental conditions, can predict weather conditions for the next 1224 hours, or alert you to a variety of severe or important weather events, like when the temperature outside goes too high/too low, or if the barometric pressure experiences a significant rise or fall.

Test strips are a fast and easy way to test your aquarium water parameters! Simply dip a strip into your water and swirl two times, then remove the strip and hold flat to evaluate color changes. 5-in-1 blanks (commonly called "five-in-ones" in the film industry) are blank cartridges that can be used in a variety of firearms. They are specifically made for theatrical use and are commonly used in real firearms for dramatic effect. Since the loud report and flash of ignition, and not the projection of a bullet, is the goal of the cartridge, it can be used in firearms with different bore sizes. These cartridges can be loaded with different charges, ranging from quarter-load charges for indoor scenes and scenes around animals, up to full-load charges for outdoor firing.[1]

5-in-1 blanks can be used in firearms chambered for the .38-40 Winchester, .44-40 Winchester, .45 Colt, .44 Magnum, and .44 Special because, although the bores differ in diameter, the chambers are of similar shape. They were called a 5-in-1 blanks, because, when they were originally introduced, they could be fired in the five different firearms commonly used in Hollywood Westerns, namely .38-40 and .44-40 Winchester rifles and .38-40, .44-40, and .45 Colt revolvers. 5-in-1 blanks are also called a 3-in-1 blanks for the three weapon calibers in which they are fired, namely .38-40, .44-40, and .45 Colt.

The 5-in-1 blanks in use today have been redesigned and are made with plastic cases that can be used not only in .38-40, .44-40, and .45 Colt calibers, but also .44 Special, .44 Magnum, and .410 bore firearms. They are available in crimped and open-ended (balloon) varieties and are made using both black powder and smokeless powder. The black powder blanks produce not only a loud report and flash, but also a cloud of white smoke.

Lifestyle vaccinations are vaccines that are recommended for some pets based on their lifestyle, some common lifestyle vaccines include Lyme, leptospira, and bordetella. Lifestyle vaccinations are often recommended for dogs and cats that spend time outdoors around other animals, or in kennels, doggie daycare, or off-leash parks.

Core vaccinations are recommended for all pets and protect against diseases that are highly contagious, cause severe illness, and pose a serious risk to your pet's longevity - DHPP is a highly recommended core vaccination for dogs in North America.

Canine distemper is a virus that is spread between dogs by air, through contact with a contaminated surface (such as toys, bedding or bowls) or by direct contact with an infected animal. The distemper virus attacks many of your dog's systems including respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems leading to symptoms that can range from high fever and coughing to vomiting, diarrhea, and watery discharge from the nose and eyes. In more advanced stages distemper in dogs can lead to pneumonia, seizures, or paralysis. Distemper can rapidly become fatal very rapidly, particularly for puppies and older dogs with weakened immune systems.

CAV-1 or Infectious canine hepatitis is a highly contagious virus that can affect your dog's liver, kidneys, spleen, lungs, and eyes. Early symptoms vary from a low-grade fever and congestion to vomiting. More severe symptoms such as jaundice, abdominal pain, eye inflammation, and bruising may begin to appear as the disease progresses. If left untreated this condition can quickly become fatal.

CAV-2 is a milder canine adenovirus which the DHPP vaccination can protect your dog against. CAV-2 is typically not as serious as the other conditions that this vaccine protects against however, this virus often leads to kennel cough which can weaken your dog's immune system and lead to further, more serious conditions including canine distemper. Symptoms of kennel cough are similar to that of the human cold and include a hacking cough and congestion.

Canine Parainfluenza is yet another highly contagious disease that is transmitted by air and can spread very quickly between dogs that come in contact with each other in kennels, off-leash parks or even just in multi-dog homes. Parainfluenza leads to cold or flu like symptoms in dogs including kennel cough and congestion.

Canine Parvovirus is a very serious, highly contagious condition that can quickly become fatal for many dogs, particularly puppies and unvaccinated adult dogs. Parvovirus attacks your dog's gastrointestinal tract leading to vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite and rapid loss of fluid and protein. This condition prevents your pup's GI tract from properly absorbing the nutrients your dog needs to stay healthy and often requires hospitalization and intensive care as life-saving treatment. 59ce067264
