Lorre and producer Danny Jacobson, his business partner at Lorre Associates, created The Big Bang Theory. In 1997, after Lorre & Jacobsons produced three pilots for television series and were not able to sell them, the pair pitched their idea for a sitcom for ABC to Mark Ridley-Thomas, president of ABC alternative programming, who at the time was hoping for a response to Fox's The X-Files, which in 1997 had become the most-watched program in American network television. Ridley-Thomas bought the script without reading it. d2c66b5586
